Botnledja
biography / portrait

In English, Botnledja means silt. In Norwegian it's bunnslam.

Botnledja from Iceland is a top notch rock trio.

The album “Iceland National Park” was released in 2003 and is Botnledja's very own homage to Iceland. (some call it the anti arty-farty Iceland-statement of the year.) Musically "Iceland National Park" is more agressive compared to their previous indie rock releases.

The band has released 5 albums. In addition to the album awards they are frequently awarded in the category Best Live Band. (Iceland Grammy Award) Although the 3rd album sold to gold on Iceland (5000 records) Botneldja is one of the least known (internationally) bands to come from the saga iceland.

Botnledja is an outstanding live band. Simply the most tight live band with outstanding hooks, screams and fine, energctic melodies. And there's no such drummer like the darn funny one in Botnledja.

Their 6th album is in the making, it will be their second long player on Norwegian label Trust Me Records and due for release spring 2005. A live album is also scheduled for fall 2005.

Botnledja is Halli on drums and vocals, Heidar on guitar and vocals and Raki on bass.
