| Annika Hoydal was born in the Faroe Islands where she grew up except from some years of her childhood where she lived in South America. Since then she has been travelling in many countries and has for example been living in Scotland and in Spain. She is now living in Copenhagen but all this time she has kept contact to the Faroe Islands. In 1973 Annika Hoydal graduated as an actress from Statens Teaterskole in Copenhagen. But in the mid sixties she and her Faroese group Harkališiš already released several recordings, and she gave concerts for example in Viseversehuset in Tivoli in Copenhagen. Annika Hoydal has performed in most Danish theatres, and she has been working with radio, television and movies. As a singer she has travelled throughout Scandinavia: Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and further more in Germany. Annika Hoydal has released several solo-albums both in Danish and Faroese. The words always come from the Faroe Islands and are written by Faroese writers, most often by her brother Gunnar Hoydal.
