Figurines
biography / portrait

Mid 90's. Three childhood friends. Christian Hjelm, Andreas Toft, and Claus S. Johansen. In 2001 they record the EP “The Detour” and shortly after sign with Morningside Records. Later that year Kristian Volden (a.k.a. Volle) joins the band, completing the ensemble that we see today.

In December 2002 the band starts recording their debut album “Shake a Mountain”, which is released in Denmark in April 2003 and in Germany, Switzerland and Austria in the spring of 2004. The album contains, among others, the song “Bright”, which is #1 on the Danish alternative chart for a couple of weeks in August 2003. That same year the band also has its debut at Roskilde Festival.

Two years after the release of “Shake A Mountain”, Figurines release their second full-length album “Skeleton”. It is released April 11th 2005. The album is recorded in Tambourine Studios in Malmö, Black Tornado in Copenhagen and Destruction Studios in Aarhus. The song “The Wonder” hits #1 on the Danish alternative chart in April 2005 and “Silver Ponds” is on heavy rotation on Danish national radio.
