The cleaning lady was hovering the floors in the recording studio where Larsen & Furious Jane were working on “Tourist With A Typewriter”. While cleaning she began humming their tunes. Now she sings backing vocals in the band and is the newest addition to the line-up of the 7 piece. Thus transpires the glory of Larsen and Furious Jane: Once you fall in love with their beautiful, wistful, sometimes even sulky, yet irresistibly catchy tunes, you too will want to join the band. Imagine the sad beauty of American Music Club and Red House Painters combined with the playful and naive honesty of Jonathan Richman and Violent Femmes and you are beginning to get a picture of one of the most unique and personal bands ever to come out of Denmark. Larsen and Furious Jane grew out of the friendship between Torsten Larsen and Tore Johansen, but since the beginning the line up has been further developed. On stage they are 7-8 people, on record musicians from Under Byen and Tiger Tunes add to the universe of Larsen & Furious Jane. The list of guests on the album is “as long as the body part that once surrounded the name of John Holmes’ with awe” – as one Danish critic put it. Larsen and Furious Jane has achieved high critical acclaim for their albums, have been nominated for two prestigious awards, have played a terrible gig in a hard rock café in Germany in front of a burger eating audience, a beautiful gig in Aarhus’ oldest cinema and a – downright great and sold out – gig at London’s 100Club, where they were invited to play at Track & Field signed Broken Family Band’s release party. For "Tourist With a Typewriter" the band has abandoned the living room in favour of a *real* recording studio (at least for some of the recordings). U-uuh! What a loss of innocence. We suppose many of the fans won't be able to handle it...
