Side Effect
biography / portrait

Side Effect’s hard and brutal industrial rock is likely to show no mercy and whip every and anyone in its way when they step on stage at G! this summer

The brain behind Side Effect is Brynjolfur á Heygum, who behind the keyboards forcefully navigates the musical avalanche. With him on the musical ride he has Ludvík Breckman on vocals and Rúni Christiansen on guitar. Brynjolfur has masterfully made his own brand of industrial rock and has in solitude developed his craft which does not stand an inch behind recognized international act in the genre.

Since their beginning in 1999 Side Effect have lain dormant like a virus, only to emerge every once in a while. But since their furiously excellent performance at last year’s Prix Föroyar the band has truly come to life and has infected every facet of the Faroese consciousness with their energetically groovy music.

The band, which cites The Prodigy, Korn, Underworld and Nine Inch Nails as influences, are currently laying the finishing touches on the debut record, of which many a fan must have dreamt about for a long time. The record will be out the 28th of May, but even before its release Side Effect have created a buzz outside the Faroes and have started to work together with Eternal Nightmare, a band from the land of techno, Germany. And this is just the first step towards world domination.

Side Effect’s live performances are the stuff of legends. Supported by live drummer Sigurð Justinussen they whip the crowd into a frenzy every time. Even though the band played early on last years Ólavsökukonsertin, they blew everyone away. They will play many concerts this summer, but their debut performance on G! will undoubtedly be one of their best.

We are looking forward to letting Side Effect’s raw industrial rock to floor us all.
