Singer – Songwriter Guğriğ Hansdóttir is from the Faroe Islands, which are 18 small islands in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. For the last three years she has been performing all over the Faroe Islands, in Denmark and Iceland as a solo artist and with her band. Her music is mixture of pop, rock and folk music, and is inspired by The Cardigans, Kent, The Carpenters, Kate Bush and Jeff Buckley. Guğriğ released her debut album “Love is Dead” in September 2007 and it has been well received by critics. The album was recorded in an old wooden house in Velbastağ, a small village in the Faroe Islands. The peaceful atmosphere and the magnificent nature in Velbastağ are reflected in the music, as the inspiring surroundings were utilized in the creative process. Guğriğ’s songs are mainly about relationships, broken hearts, destiny and life on isolated stormy islands. Guğriğ is currently promoting her newly released album and working on songs, which will be on her next album.
